The specter of Christian Nationalism's influence over politics and society has inspired a growing body of cutting-edge research. After studying religious extremism on four continents for more than 22 years, Dr. Andrew Ward is at its helm.
Andrew's experience as a community leader, political science professor, education activist, and entertainer has made him a sought-after authority on the intersection of religion and politics. In 2020, he was credited with having designed and taught the first course directly addressing the rise of Christian Nationalism at an American university. Outside academia, he works with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure the separation of church and state in the fields of public health and public education. He is regularly asked to speak or provide background on the topic for journalists and academics from around the world.
A Global Expert on RELIGIOUS NATIONALISM
A celebrated New Orleans personality, Andrew's experience extends far beyond the academic world. In addition to his research, he has established and directed several nonprofit organizations including Voices for International Business and Education, which operates the International High School of New Orleans. He is the founder and director of the Wahida Unity Project which uses music and the arts to bridge the divide between the US and the Islamic World and the co-founder and chairman of the largest music festival in East Africa, the HIV Awareness "iKnow" Concert Series in Uganda and Rwanda. He is also the author of numerous academic articles, well-received plays, and the fantastical children's book, A Bourbon Street Sojourn (Barataria Communications 2016) soon to enter its second printing.
The
SEVEN MOUNTAIN Mandate
According to apocryphal lore, a prophetic vision from God was simultaneously received by several prominent evangelical leaders in 1975. They were given a holy mandate to seize what had been revealed to them as the seven spheres of influence, thereby honoring the biblical injunction to disciple all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). These spheres are: Religion, Family, Government, Education, Business, Media, and Arts & Entertainment.
We must be clear here, followers of the 7MM are not just a band of fanatics demanding religious conversion in society. Nor are they simply authoritarian Christo-fascists seeking complete control over the political and economic apparatuses. This brand of Dominionism is composed of avowed totalitarians who will not rest until every thought, word, and deed is committed for the glory their god’s Kingdom. This means that a radical strategy is underway to replace the current democratic order with a complete theocratic rule; and it’s becoming more mainstream every day.
